1) Electromagnetic Wave Reception
BeiDou satellites constantly emit electromagnetic signals containing navigation and positioning information to the ground. The primary task of the Kinghelm BeiDou antenna is to receive these weak electromagnetic signals. The antenna is designed with a specific frequency response and directivity, enabling it to effectively capture signals transmitted by the BeiDou satellites within a certain frequency range, such as the B1 band (1561.098 MHz) and the B2a band (1176.45 MHz). 2) Signal Conversion
Once the BeiDou antenna receives the electromagnetic signals, it converts them into weak electrical current signals. This conversion process is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, where the alternating magnetic and electric fields of the electromagnetic wave induce an electromotive force in the antenna’s conductor, creating a weak current. This process can be compared to the conversion of wind energy into mechanical energy by a windmill, where the antenna transforms the energy from electromagnetic waves into electrical energy.
3) Signal Amplification and Processing
Since the received signals are very weak, they need to be amplified by the internal components of the antenna or connected amplifiers. The amplified signals are then transmitted to the BeiDou receiver. In the receiver, the signals undergo a series of processes, including filtering, decoding, and other operations, to extract the navigation information, such as the position of the satellites, signal transmission time, and so on. Ultimately, this information is used to calculate the receiver’s position, velocity, and time.
