The rated voltage refers to the maximum voltage a connector can safely withstand during long-term operation. It determines whether the connector will experience breakdown, leakage, or electrical arcing.

Core significance

  1. Ensures insulation safety
    Excessive voltage can break down insulating materials, leading to leakage, short circuits, or arcing.
  2. Prevents creepage and flashover
    Higher voltages require greater pin spacing and creepage distance. Overvoltage conditions can easily cause safety hazards such as surface discharge or flashover.
  3. Defines applicable scenarios
    Low-voltage connectors must not be used in high-voltage systems (e.g., consumer electronics, automotive, industrial control, and high-voltage harnesses must not be interchanged).
  4. Works together with rated current
    Only when both voltage and current remain within rated limits can a connector operate stably, safely, and with long service life.
