How is signal transmission loss controlled in RF cables?

(1) Select low-loss coaxial cable materials, matching the cable type to the operating frequency band; for high-frequency applications, low-loss cables are preferred.

(2) Strictly control the crimping/soldering process between cable and connectors to ensure reliable inner and outer conductor connections and minimize joint loss.

(3) Control the minimum bend radius of the cable to avoid performance degradation due to excessive bending during design and production.

(4) Maintain strict 50 Ω impedance matching at the connector interface to reduce reflection-induced equivalent loss.

(5) Test finished products with a network analyzer for insertion loss and reject out-of-spec units.

(6) For long cable runs, evaluate the appropriate cable length with the customer and, if necessary, choose thicker low-loss cables.
