How Does Antenna Installation Location Affect Transmission and Reception?
The antenna installation position has a direct impact on communication performance.
Impact on Transmission and Reception Quality
Keep away from obstacles: Avoid installing antennas near metal structures, water bodies, or dense buildings, as these objects can reflect or absorb RF signals, reducing communication range.
Installation height: A recommended installation height of 2.5 to 4 meters above ground helps reduce ground reflection interference and increases coverage area.
Avoid electromagnetic interference sources: Keep antennas away from elevator shafts, large electronic equipment, and other strong EMI sources to reduce noise and signal degradation.
Impact on Positioning Accuracy
Prefer open environments: Install the antenna above the device or at a higher position within line of sight to minimize signal blockage and improve signal quality.
Minimize obstructions: Ensure that there are as few obstacles as possible between the transmitting and receiving antennas, and that any obstacles present are as small as possible, to maintain clear signal paths.
Impact on Coverage Area
Centralized placement: Omnidirectional antennas should be installed near the geometric center of the coverage area to ensure uniform signal distribution and minimize blind spots. Directional antennas should be aligned precisely along the axis toward the target device to ensure direct signal propagation.
Orientation adjustment: Directional antennas must be aimed at the primary service area. Omnidirectional antennas do not require directional adjustment but should be installed horizontally to achieve optimal performance.
