What are Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Antennas?

2026-04-24 124

The very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) bands include FM radio broadcasting, VHF television channels, UHF television channels, and amateur radio communications (commonly known as “ham radio”). Almost all the information we encounter in daily life is transmitted within these frequency bands, making their applications extremely widespread and significantly impactful on people’s lives.

Below is a brief overview of the frequency distribution and application range in these bands:

Amateur radio broadcasting covers a wide frequency range. The lowest amateur band is 160 meters (approximately 180 kHz wavelength), just above the AM broadcast band, while the highest amateur band is 0.75 meters (approximately 400 MHz wavelength), which falls within the UHF range.
